Eight-Precept Personal Retreat (Self-Practice) at Santi Forest Monastery 宁心寺守八戒个人自修

1. Observance of the Eight Precepts 守八戒

Participants must strictly observe the Eight Precepts throughout their stay in the monastery. 参与者在寺院期间必须严格遵守八戒。

2. Dress Code 着装规范

Participants must wear plain, modest, and preferably white clothing. Clothing should cover the shoulders and legs (long pants or long skirts are required). Tight, transparent, or decorative attire is not permitted. 参与者必须穿着朴素、端庄、最好为白色的服装。衣着需遮盖肩膀及双腿(须穿长裤或长裙)。不得穿着紧身、透明或带装饰性的服装。

3. Daily Schedule 日常作息

Participants should follow the monastery’s daily routine as far as possible, including chanting, meditation, and communal activities. 参与者应尽量遵守寺院的日常作息,包括诵经、禅修及共修活动。

4. Accommodation 住宿

The monastery will provide basic lodging. Participants are expected to keep their accommodation clean and tidy at all times, and to take care of all property and facilities, as the monastery is a place for Buddhists to practise. 寺院将提供基本住宿。参与者需随时保持住宿环境的整洁,并爱护寺院的所有物品与设施,因为这里是佛弟子修行之处。

5. Conduct 行为规范

Participants must maintain respectful behavior towards the Sangha, fellow practitioners, and monastery property. Any misconduct or repeated breach of rules may result in immediate dismissal and removal from the monastery premises. 参与者必须恭敬对待僧团、其他修行者及寺院物品。若有不当行为或屡次违反规章制度,可能会被立即要求离开寺院。

6. Prohibited Conduct 禁止行为

If the monastery finds that a participant is involved in illegal activities, drug use, or any other harmful or inappropriate behavior, the participant will not be allowed to stay and may be asked to leave immediately. 若寺院发现参与者涉及任何非法行为、吸毒或其他有害或不当的行为,将不允许其继续留宿,并可能会被立即要求离开。

7. Health and Safety 身心健康

Participants should be in suitable physical and mental condition to undertake self-practice. Only those with normal and stable mental health will be accepted. The monastery cannot accommodate individuals with severe mental disturbances. Any medical needs are the sole responsibility of the participant or their family. If such conditions are realised during practice, it may result in immediate dismissal and removal from the monastery premises. 参与者应具备适合的身心状况以进行自修。仅接受身心健康、精神正常稳定者。寺院无法接纳精神严重失常者。任何医疗需求由参与者或其家属自行负责。若在修行期间发现此类情况,可能会被立即要求离开寺院。

8. Personal Belongings 个人财物

The monastery does not take responsibility for loss or damage of personal belongings. Participants are advised to bring only essential items. 寺院不负责保管或赔偿个人财物的遗失或损坏。建议参与者仅携带必需物品。

9. Photography, Recording, and Phone Use 摄影、录音与手机使用

Participants staying in the monastery for Eight-Precept self-practice are strictly not allowed to take photos, videos, or recordings for promotional purposes or social media sharing. The monastery is a place for peace and practice, not for marketing. Your phone may be kept with you, but it is only for emergency use and necessary contact purposes. It should not be used for entertainment, social media, or unnecessary communication.This rule does not apply to lay supporters who come temporarily for offerings or ceremonies and leave afterwards, as their purpose is different from retreat practice. 在寺院内受持八关斋戒自修的参与者严禁拍摄照片、录制视频或音频用于宣传或社交媒体分享。寺院是宁静修行之处,而非宣传营销之地。手机可随身携带,但仅限于紧急情况或必要联系时使用,不得用于娱乐、社交媒体或不必要的通讯。此规定不适用于仅在早上来供养或参加法会后即离开的善信,因为他们的目的与禅修自修不同。

10. Silence and Contemplation 静语

Noble Silence may be observed during the stay. Participants are expected to refrain from unnecessary speech and distractions. 在修行期间可能会实施“静语”。参与者应避免不必要的谈话与分心。

11. Leaving the Monastery 提前离开寺院

Should a participant wish to leave before the completion of their stay, they must inform the responsible monk or volunteer. 若参与者欲在修行期间提前离开寺院,须通知负责的法师或义工。

12. Extension of Stay 延长住宿

For participants who have completed their probationary short stay and wish to remain longer in the monastery, prior approval must be obtained from the Sangha. Without such approval, extended stay will not be permitted. 若参与者已完成试住期并希望在寺院停留更长时间,必须事先获得僧团的批准。未获批准者不得延长住宿。

13. Voluntary Participation 自愿参与

Joining the Eight-Precept retreat is a personal choice. By applying, you confirm that you come to the monastery willingly to undertake self-practice. Nobody has forced or pressured you to join. 参与八关斋戒禅修乃个人自愿之选择。报名即表明您自愿前来修持,并非受他人强迫或施压。

14. Donation 随喜布施

The monastery does not charge any fees for staying under the Eight Precepts. Your stay is supported by the generosity of donors. If you wish, voluntary monetary donations are welcome as a way to express gratitude and to support the continuation of the monastery’s activities. 寺院不收取任何参加八关斋戒自修的费用。您的住宿由善心护持者所供养。若您愿意,可随喜金钱布施,以表达感恩并支持寺院的弘法与延续。

15. Minors 未成年人

If you bring children below 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must accompany them at all times. The parent or guardian bears full responsibility for the child’s safety, conduct, and wellbeing throughout the stay. The monastery will not be held liable for any matters arising from the presence of minors. 若携带未满18岁的儿童,必须由父母或合法监护人全程陪同。父母或监护人须对儿童在寺院期间的安全、行为及身心健康负全责。寺院对因未成年人在场所引起的任何事项概不负责。

16. Right of Monastery 寺院权利

The monastery reserves the right to make final decisions regarding all matters related to the retreat and participants’ stay. What is stated here are only the general terms and conditions; further guidance may be given according to the Vinaya and Dhamma. 寺院保留对与禅修及参与者住宿相关的一切事宜作出最终决定的权利。本条款仅属一般性须知,僧团可依佛法律仪与佛法给予进一步的指导与规定。

17. Acknowledgment 确认

By registering, participants agree to abide by the above conditions and uphold the spirit of self-practice in the monastery. 报名即表示参与者同意遵守以上条款,并恪守在寺院自修的精神。

18. Amendment to Terms 条款修改权

The monastery reserves the right to amend or update the above terms and conditions when necessary, subject to confirmation by the Abbot or the senior monks. Any such amendments will take immediate effect once confirmed. 寺院保留在必要时修改或更新以上条款的权利,但须经住持或长老僧确认。一经确认,即刻生效。
